Client Highlight: Metalmark Innovations

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from one of our clients, Metalmark Innovations. Metalmark is a women-led, small business spun out of Harvard University in 2018 that develops groundbreaking air-cleaning technology. Their solutions employ nano-scale porous materials inspired by nature that enhance the removal of air pollutants and provide effective self-cleaning. In fact, their patented technology is the world’s first self-renewing air cleaner.

Recently, Metalmark received a Small Business Innovation Research award from the EPA as part of the Cleaner Indoor Air During Wildfires Challenge. In 2021, the EPA launched this challenge “to propose new approaches for keeping indoor air as clean as possible on high-pollution days.” It was created in response to the growing dangers of wildfire smoke to public health, especially for children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions. Metalmark submitted their air cleaning system to the EPA for testing as part of phase 2 of this challenge, which solicited small businesses to further develop indoor air cleaning technologies. The EPA validated Metalmark’s HEPA-grade filter technology, which captures 99.97% of particulate matter, including wildfire smoke, without byproduct emissions.
